Chad Marshall, Minister of Adult Discipleship

liz Welcome to UPPC! As the Minister of Adult Discipleship, it is my hope that you find UPPC to be a community in which you are loved, nurtured and equipped to follow Jesus Christ into the world.

My wife (Liz) and I joined “the E-Team” in the summer of 2005 after a not-so-brief stint in the wilderness (i.e., four years in New Jersey). Moving to the Northwest was a long-awaited homecoming for us; I grew up in and around Seattle, where Liz and I spent the first years of our marriage. We have two beautiful girls: Kyla, who is 17 months old, and Iliana, who is 9 days old. I look forward with fear and trembling to the day when they are referred to by teachers and other authorities as “the Marshall girls.”

Aside from family, my passion in life and ministry is to understand God more fully and to help His people to love Him with heart, soul, mind and strength. I am committed to and driven by the belief that Jesus Christ is Lord not only of my life and yours, but also of our community and the world.

I graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 1996 and 2001 (it’s a long story). In the years following college and preceding seminary, I worked in public policy, in homeless ministry, and in sales and business development for two software companies. When I’m not spending time with my family or working, I enjoy reading good theology, fly-fishing and picking flowers while reading poetry. (OK, that last one is made up.) My desert island band is U2 and my desert island book is Church Dogmatics IV.1 (no, seriously).
