Our Mission and Vision
What is UPPC’s Mission?
CONNECTING TO CHRIST: To create a community of people
who are called out of isolation, anonymity and autonomy into a life-changing
relationship with Jesus Christ.
CONNECTING TO CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: To continually strive
to reach and shape the hearts and minds of the UPPC community through corporate
praise and worship, involvement in relational groups and the experience
of transforming discipleship.
CONNECTING TO THE WORLD: To consistently, thoughtfully
and creatively engage the secular and global community in order to proclaim
and bear witness to the Good News.
Our Vision
To be a community of fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ demonstrating God’s transforming love.
At the core of UPPC we value:
Extending Grace-Grace was first extended to us by Jesus Christ. We all need God’s pardon from sin and the good news of the gospel.
- Biblical Authority-We may hold differing views on peripheral matters, but we are agreed that our standard for measurement is the written word in the Bible.
- Relational Ministry-Being “present” with people is an essential element in expressing love to them. We think spiritual formation and discipleship happens best when people serve each other in “life-on-life” ministry.
- Shared Leadership-The most effective leadership relies upon teams.
- Healthy Relationships-Appropriate spiritual influence with others is founded upon characters and lifestyles of integrity.
- Servanthood-We must model our lives after the one who came not to be served, but to serve. It is in doing that we act out our love and faith.
- Life Stewardship-God is the giver of life, talent, and possessions. All we have belongs to our Lord.
- Legacy of Faith-We value the ancient and varied traditions of the Faith. We delight in sensing God’s spirit and truth in the work of the historic Church.
- Spiritual Growth-We seek to encourage all believers to maturity and many to leadership in God’s kingdom.
- Corporate Worship-Our shared life radiates out from the times we join as the Body of Christ to worship together in song, prayer, confession, the proclaimed words of the Bible, and communion.
- Kingdom Orientation-Our priority is to discover, reveal, and extend the presence of God’s Kingdom.
