Other Opportunities:
Save a Place at the Table :: Safe Families for Children is empowering churches and communities to expand their safety net by caring for at-risk children in need. You can make a difference by volunteering to support a young child in your home (newborn – 16 years) whose family is in temporary crisis due to eviction, homelessness, illness or surgery, drug rehabilitation, neglect or abuse, unemployment, postpartum depression, etc. Safe Families has joined forces with Olive Crest to provide homes of refuge for children in the Seattle Metro area. Olive Crest caseworkers match families in crisis with available volunteer families for an agreed amount of time (average is six weeks) but can range from 2 days to 2 years. This is a positive alternative to the government social service system – allowing parents the safety net to work out their problems without worry. UPPC is introducing Safe Families as a new ministry to our church. There are several ways to volunteer for this ministry: prayer groups, financial support, meal planning, opening your home and more! Contact Ruth Olson: 253.564.2522 ext. 140 or visit www.olivecrest.org/pnw to continue learning about this opportunity.
