jackson Rev. Jackson Clelland- Associate Pastor

As the Associate Pastor I participate in our weekly worship and sacraments, weddings and memorial services. I counsel members and families in crisis, or preparing for marriage. I assist with caring ministries when a pastor is needed and occasionally teach.

In my role as Minister of Welcome and Evangelism I give direction and formulate the broad annual plan for “frontline” ministries that serve as a welcome to the UPPC community and equip this church to share its faith. At UPPC we are committed to extending the open heart of hospitality. We want people to experience the winsome invitation that Jesus offers when they meet Jesus people inside and outside the church doors.

We offer a monthly lunch called Launch Lunch that helps to orient relatively new people into the life of UPPC. We also encourage people to consider the bold commitment of membership through a five -week small group encounter called Essentials.

A Canadian native, I graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in business. Upon graduating, I worked in the fish business as a broker to large chain stores until Jesus reeled me into pastoral ministry. I graduated from Regent College, (Vancouver, B.C.) in 1998 and began ministry as a solo pastor at Zion Presbyterian Church in Angus, Ontario. After 3 years of deep snow I received a clear call to be an Associate Pastor in San Diego. I have been at UPPC since 2006.

I am married to Malaika and have two energetic young daughters, Madeline and Chloe.
